Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to let you know about the new wines that arrived at Bella Vino today. Along with the returning Tomasello Blueberry Wine ($14.99). New to the shop BR Cohn Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma Valley Olive Hill Estate Vineyard. This is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon wine that is full-bodied with rich, ripe fruit and a long silky finish ($62.99). White Oak Sauvignon Blanc from Russian River Valley - a burst of fragrant passion fruit, grass and grapefruit flavors. Ripe nectarine tones with fruit intensity that keeps pumping through the finish (19.99). Truchard Roussanne from Napa Valley (1/2 bottle) – rich aromas of green apple, honeydew melon, highlighted with pineapple and vanilla.  The mouth has sublte flavors of nectarine, peach and fresh pear.  Bright acidity provides a crisp finish of citrus, mineral, and spice (9.99). Panarroz Jumilla Red from Spain – this is an amazing bargain from Spain – displaying bursts of plum, blackberry and licorice. A bit of pepper on the finish – the wine is silky, soft and opulent (12.99).  Strele Soave from Veneto Italy – Lemons and zingy citrus on the nose.  Nice citrus, lemons, medium bodied, not thin, but not too complex either, nicely balanced, nice acid leaves your mouth feeling clean but not puckered (14.99). Fourplay Sicily Red from Sicily Italy – Ruby red color, fruit forward with aromas of blackberries, black cherries and smoke. Lush palate with soft tannins and beautiful balance ($15.99 – $14.40).

Fourplay Sicily Red  will be the wine of the month for March. It will also be open for tonight’s wine tasting.

Hope to see you tonight.

This Week at Bella Vino

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Hi Everyone,

Hope you’re all doing well. More snow!!! I would like NO more snow. Looks like Thursday might be the only snowless, rainless day of the week. So it will be a great night for a wine tasting. And don’t forget our fresh artisan bread’s from “The Good Loaf”. Everyone loved them last week – very delicious. We will get them in every Thursday afternoon.

Our two wines for tasting on Thursday – a white wine from Chili, Echeverria – Unwooded Chrdonnay - A wine from a small estate, family owned vineyard displaying fresh flavours of mango, melon and green apples. A well balanced wine with a long lasting finish.

Obidos – Quinta De S. Francisco - Our new wine from Portugal is a blending of 3 indigenous grapes that are aged for 9 months in oak barrels. Displaying a beautiful ruby color with aromas of red berries it is light bodied with mild tannins.

Our wine tasting will be Thursday from 4:30 to 7:00.

Returning to our shop is Tomasello Blueberry Wine $14.99. It was previously a big hit and I will have an open bottle on Saturday if anyone would like to taste it. A new wine that will be in on Thursday is BR Cohn Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma Valley Olive Hill Estate Vineyard. This is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon wine that is full-bodied with rich, ripe fruit and a long silky finish. $62.99

This Week at Bella Vino

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Hi Everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well. It was nice to see so many of you last Thursday. I hope you all had a great Valentines day.

I am always looking to get new wines into Bella Vino – as well as replenish many of your favorites. I will be getting some new wines on Thursday – Mia’s Playground – a highly recommended Zinfandel, a wonderful Italian Brunello, a delicious Merlot from Napa Cellars and some a red wine from Portugal.

On Thursday we will taste two terrific wines. Our white wine from Columbia Valley, Washington is new to the shop. CMS White – a fresh and vibrant wine that effortlessly balances body and depth from 33% Chardonnay, spicy aromatics from 3% Marsanne and structured minerals from 64% Sauvignon Blanc. Green apple, grass, and mineral dominate the flavors with some banana and vanilla notes, as well as ripe fruit sweetness. CMS White is perfect to enjoy with shellfish or as an aperitif alone!

The Grove Street Cabernet Sauvignon is a broad-shouldered, balanced Cabernet Sauvignon that was produced from fruit grown in the plush appellations of Sonoma County. Here, well-drained, loose soil allows for the clear flavor development of the fruit. This wine has a pleasant surge of ripe currant and cherry flavors. Finishes with supple tannins and a touch of anise and sage. A lush balance of rich fruit, plenty of tannin and fine acidity.

There will also be some new tasty treats from the Crooked Birch to sample. Stop in and check out some of our new wines. Our wine tasting will be Thursday from 4:30 to 7:00.

Until then – Cheers!

Hi Everyone,

I’ve received my first shipment of cheeses today. They are all from The Sandwich Creamery in Sandwich NH. The cheeses I have are Cheddar, Smoked Cheddar, Brie, Coulommier, Caephilly and a Boursin Spread. All of these cheeses are made by hand in small batches.

I am working on getting additional cheeses as well as fresh artisan breads into the shop. Hopefully this month.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing you soon.

This Week at Bella Vino

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

Hi Everyone and Welcome to the new look for our wine tasting emails!

It’s taken a while but I am happy to say that my website is finally up and running. The web address is www.bellavinonh.com. You will find one of the links named tastings and notes. This is a page where you will find an archive of weekly tastings and it is also a blog page where we can share wine tasting notes and also share great wine and food paring recipes. I promise to get a few recipes on this page soon.

I’m not sure how many of you will be joining me on Thursday – don’t forget it’s valentines day! I still have some great chocolates and gifts for someone special on your list.

I will have two great wines to taste.

The first is an Unoaked Chardonnay – JanKris – Paso Robles. Aromas of pear with hints of lemon meringue, vanilla and apple. Long clean tart finish of pomegranate and grapefruit. 100% unoaked, this wine is a pure expression of the Chardonnay grape.

Next is a Petit Sirah – David Bruce – Paso Robles and Monterey County. This wine displays intense aromas of raspberry and blueberry. Full, dense texture with a long velvety finish.

Stop in and check out some of our new wines. Our wine tasting will be Thursday from 4:30 to 7:00.

Until then – Cheers!
