Wine Tastings for April 30, May 1 and May 2

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Hi Everyone,

I’m sending this email a little early since I will be leaving tomorrow for a mini vacation with my family. I wanted to fill you in on our wine tastings for next week. We will have 3 days of tasting! Thursday and Saturday will feature 2 wonderful local NH winery’s. If you haven’t tasted wines from Labelle Winery or Zorvino Vineyards you’re in for a treat. And Friday’s tasting will feature our new “Wines of the Month”.

I also want to give you advance notice on our special “Mother’s Day” wine tasting. On Saturday May 9th, Patrick Dunn will be back pouring his extra delicious wines! We will also be tasting Cabot Cheeses. They contacted me a few months ago and would love all of you to taste a variety of their cheeses. It should be a lot of fun (it always is with Patrick). I will send out more information next week.

Thursdays Wine Tasting – LaBelle Winery, Amherst NH

Heirloom Apple - This unique wine is made with only heirloom apples. Their historically valued characteristics yield a more complex wine, replete with floral notes of roses and tulips.

Seyval Blanc - This elegant, fruity wine is slow-fermented, resulting in a delicate and beautiful wine with floral, fruity notes and soft tannins.

Cranberry Wine - This refreshing wine is the perfect balance of light sweetness and tart cranberry. Made from 100% New England cranberries, the wine’s brilliant red color and bright flavor entice and compliments a wide variety of food pairings.

Red Raspberry Wine – Be prepared to challenge your preconceptions of fruit wine! This sinfully good wine is sweet but not cloying, intense but soft. The texture is clean, medium-bodied and ripe, with seductive aromas of fresh raspberries. This wine smells as good as it tastes. Excellent with chocolate, fresh fruit and cheese, or cheesecake, or simply sip as dessert itself.

Blueberry Wine - A light red, meduim bodied wine, this Blueberry Wine will please the palate with rich, soft notes of vanilla and fresh fruit. Made with 100 % New Hampshire wild blueberries, this light dinner wine has something for everyone with a hint of sweetness and a lingering, dry finish.

Friday’s Wine Tasting – Wines of the Month (WotM)

“New Wine” 2007 Lake Sonoma Winery – Chardonnay – Russian River Valley, California - Ripe flavors of Bosc pears and green apples are integrated with hints of vanilla from French oak.  ($19.99 WotM $18.00)

“New Wine” 2004 Lake Sonoma Winery - Zinfandel – Dry Creek Valley, California -  Plum, blackberry and cherry mingle with an elegant mid-palate of creamy vanilla. Light oak and a medley of spice lengthen the finish. ($23.99 WotM $21.60)

Saturday’s Wine Tasting – Zorvino Vineyards, Sandown NH

Sauvignon Blanc - The grapes for this Sauvignon Blanc come from Chile and has some nice minerality and citrus notes. The finish has pear and green apple flavors.

Pearz – Light and crisp with nice acidity and subtle fruit notes. The finish has flavors of caramel and raison.

Peachz - Light and crisp, slightly sweet, with nice acidity and subtle fruit notes of peaches.

Fragolez – Reisling with a touch of Strawberry - Like drinking a fruit salad. Light refreshing and well balanced.

Alicante Bouschet – A wonderful red wine made from this unique grape varietal. Fruity, not sweet and slightly floral. This wine was a big hit at the YMCA wine tasting.

We will be closed on Tuesday April 28 but will be open our regular hours for the remainder of the week.

Our wine tasting on Thursday and Friday is from 4:30 to 7:00 and on Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00.

Until then – Cheers!
