This Week at Bella Vino – Dee from Southern Wine & Spirits

I hope your weekend was great. I know we had a lot of fun at our Thursday night and Friday night wine tastings. This week Dee will be pouring some wines many of you have been looking forward to tasting. 3 Chateau Ste. Michelle wines – come taste the difference between a warmer weather and a cooler weather Merlot. Also, J Russian River Valley Chardonnay that is being offered this month as a sale item through the State. A saving’s I am happy to pass along.

“New Wine”  2007 Chateau Ste. Michelle/Ernst Loosen “Eroica” – Rielsing – Washington State – 93 Pts. W&S/91 Pts. WS./91 Pts. WA - This Eroica shows the crisp acidity of the 2007 vintage. The wine delivers mandarin orange and sweet lime aromas and flavors with subtle mineral notes. The cooler September, along with selecting fruit from higher elevation and cooler sites, contributed to the mouth-watering acidity balanced by beautiful Washington Riesling fruit. ($23.99)

“New Wine” 2007 J Vineyards – Chardonnay – Russian River Valley, California - This wine captures lush tropical aromas of pineapple, pear, peach, and honeysuckle with a hint of toast, creating seamless flavors of creamy pear and citrus zest with toasted-vanilla oak notes. The texture is smooth and sensual, with a long finish of apple and pear. ($31.99 Reg. $39.99)

“New Wine” 2006 Chateau Ste. Michelle – Indian Wells – Merlot – Washington State - Aromas of raspberry, bittersweet chocolate, spice and toast lead to flavors of red currant, black raspberry and intriguing notes of pepper and cinnamon. This is a flavorful, yet elegant Merlot. ($19.99)

“New Wine” 2003 Chateau Ste. Michelle – Canoe Ridge – Merlot – Washington State - 88 Pts. WS - Richly aromatic wine that suggests raspberry and blueberry distinguished by loads of appealing toasty cinnamon spice, vanilla, and a hint of orange zest. Deep plummy fruit flavors are remarkably well developed, balanced by ample tannins. There’s an intriguing hint of black pepper in the long full finish. ($22.99)

New Wine” 2008 Snap Dragon – Riesling – Monterey, California –  Full and round in the mouth with flavors of ripe peach and yellow nectarine highlighted by key lime and rose petal. Crisp acidity accents with suggestive sweetness. Great Value. ($11.99)

“New Wine” 2006 Line 39 – Cabernet Sauvignon – Lake County, California –  This Cabernet Sauvignon starts with aromas of bright red fruits, blackberry, tobacco and cedar. An elegant wine offering chewy black fruit flavors with subtle tannins on the finish that don’t overpower. This easy-to-drink Cabernet Sauvignon is very nice for the price. ($13.99)
